SUPPLY OF LINEAR OPTICAL TEMPERATURE MEASURING DEVICES FOR THE ELECTRICAL POWER SECTOR
LIOS Technology GmbH, Cologne, Germany and EHV Power Corporation, Toronto, Canada have signed a global OEM Distribution Agreement to supply LIOS Technology based Optical Temperature Sensing (OTS) solutions to the electrical power sector. Within the framework of the agreement, EHV Power will be the primary source of tailored transmission and distribution diagnostic and asset optimization solutions and services.
LIOS Technology is the global leader in the development and supply of state of the art frequency domain based OTS systems. The LIOS Technology OTS product line comprises a range of real-time, multi-mode fibre optic based linear temperature measuring devices with a measuring range up to 4km with spatial resolutions of down to 0.5m.
The system OTS100 was successfully introduced under the product name FibroLaser II as a safety system for detecting fires in tunnels, in which normal fire alarms are not able to work satisfactorily due to the extreme environmental conditions. In cooperation with Siemens Cerberus Division world wide, the OTS system has been successfully installed in some 800 kilometres of road and rail tunnels with some 400 OTS evaluation units. As the pioneering force LIOS Technology has established a new standard in modern fire detection.
Within the electrical power sector, EHV Power is a leading supplier of specialty products, technical services and custom solutions to the extra high voltage underground transmission marketplace. Optical temperature sensing applications within the power sector include dynamic rating of power cables, and real-time monitoring of power delivery assets such as transformers and transmission lines.
EHV Power will be providing custom OTS based applications to enable utility operators to optimize the utilization of electrical transmission assets.
