SEI Announces the Juice Box, a 24 Port Power-over-Ethernet Power Hub

by Anonymous

Frederick, MD May 3, 2004--System Engineering International (SEI), the largest national provider of ISDN CPE power equipment, announces the release of the Juice Box mid-span power hub for Power-over-Ethernet, (PoE), compatible devices in applications such as VoIP and Wireless Networks. The Juice Box provides 24 power ports, is fully compliant with IEEE-802.3af, requires only 1U of rack space, and comes standard with both WEB page and SNMP interfaces.

“With emerging technologies such as VoIP and Wireless Networks, the value of Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) continues to grow,” said Martin Grolnic, president of SEI. “PoE eliminates the need to run a separate power cable to each device which reduces cost and eliminates wiring clutter. By inserting the SEI Juice Box into the Ethernet infrastructure, customers are able to provide both the data signal and power through the same cable.”

The Juice Box not only reduces power cabling cost and clutter, but also reduces backup power cost and maintenance. With the addition of a single UPS, instead of one for each device, the Juice Box provides centralized backup power to all connected devices.

Pricing of the Juice Box allows the end user to get a full 24-port capability for a 12-port price thus reducing infrastructure powering costs and racking requirements. In smaller deployments the Juice Box eliminates upgrade costs from 12 port units to a full 24 port unit. Warranty on the Juice Box is a full two years with free customer support for that period. Units are available for immediate shipment.
